Stand paediatric support system wins German Design Award for 2024

We’re thrilled to announce that PDR’s paediatric support system, Stand, has been recognised by the German Design Award 2024 in the category of Excellent Product Design - Medical, Rehabilitation and Health Care.

About the German Design Award

The German Design Awards serve as a global benchmark for cutting-edge design advancements and competitiveness in the worldwide market. In today's context, exceptional design involves addressing current societal demands, sustainable and circular design processes, as well as eco-friendly production.

The German Design Award is decided by an esteemed international panel of judges and offers a prestigious platform for showcasing design trends across various industries.

About Stand

Paediatric standers are designed to assist children with limited mobility due to cerebral palsy. However, existing models on the market often feature complex steel frameworks, leading to feelings of isolation and stigma for both children and their families. Stand is a user-centred concept aimed at promoting ease of use and reducing stigmatisation. It combines modern design, material selection, and finishing to ensure both functionality and a contemporary aesthetic.

The product is fully adjustable and easy to assemble, with various base options that facilitate walking, upright stance and play. Additionally, it simplifies the attachment of accessories such as work trays. Stand provides secure and comfortable support for children to engage in activities like playing, learning, and eating; and thanks to its modular design, it grows with the child over time.

Jarred Evans, Managing Director of PDR said:

"We’re very proud to help make a positive difference to the lives of young people with cerebral palsy through our work on Stand, and to receive recognition for our product from such a prestigious awards body."
